What is ICE?

We offer the music industry a professional, reliable and efficient service, which enables music societies to manage copyright, and helps organisations, music societies and interested parties adapt to the challenge they face in today's ever changing right management business. We provide browser-driven database administration solutions. These solutions let you track and manage music usage across all media, including emerging market segments such as music downloads and Internet airplay. We are looking for a:
VP & General Counsel 

(This is one position that can be based either in our London or Berlin office)

Reporting to the CEO, the VP & General Counsel is accountable for legal risk and the delivery of commercial and strategic legal advice across all of ICE‘s multi-jurisdictional business activities. This is a high profile, international role and requires excellent communications skills, the ability to take a proactive and commercial approach to legal matters and strong leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

You will need to demonstrate sophisticated analytical, negotiation, drafting and advisory skills in respect of the terms of all contracts entered into by ICE, including online licensing contracts, third party supplier agreements, service and operational level agreements and mandates from rightholders. Managing a team of four lawyers across two locations and three jurisdictions the ICE legal function advises the business in the context of a complex contractual, corporate and regulatory matrix, including group wide data protection, implementation of the copyright directive, competition law and collective rights management.
In particular, as a member of the leadership team you will work across the whole business and customer facing teams, copyright and online processing services, licensing, supporting ICE’s objectives and priorities, managing stakeholders, new product and service offerings, extending the reach of online music licensing and services. 

Minimum Requirements:

You must be a qualified and practiced lawyer preferably in the UK or Germany with circa 7+ years post qualification experience, likely to have been gained in private practice and/or through in house legal and business experience, ideally dealing with the digital media/broadcast sector. You should have had exposure to areas of corporate governance, commercial, IP, data protection, IT and competition law. We will require you to demonstrate an interest in the music industry, developing technologies and knowledge of the legal issues relating to digital media, including knowledge of rights issues on new digital platforms.

We require an experienced person with a hands-on approach and a can-do attitude, someone who relishes a challenge and has an aptitude for working in fast-moving, uncertain and complex business environment.
